A major project to develop new exhibitions at the Fossil & Heritage Centre has recently been completed. Visit the brand new Building the Barriers exhibition and the local heritage galleries, which tell the story of 20th century life in Orkney through day-to-day objects. See 385 million year old Orkney fish fossils brought to life as never before. Marvel at exquisitely preserved fossils of long-extinct sea creatures and find out about rocks, crystals and how the Earth works.
The Community Café, run by local volunteers, offers a range of hearty soups, local produce and delicious home-bakes in a warm and friendly environment with lovely views.
The Gift Shop has a wide range of arts and crafts, jewellery, traditional toys, gemstones, books, cards and CDs. Take your time to browse the unusual and extensive range of goods on offer.
